Youth Athletic Programs

Youth athletic programs are open to boys and girls who reside in Currituck County.

Sign-up deadlines are established for each program; in some cases, no late registrations will be accepted unless there are openings on a team.

Registration forms are only available during the registration period.

Youth athletic programs provided by Currituck County are:

  • Youth Basketball
    • Open to children ages 5-15
    • League play begins in January and ends in February
    • Registration will begin sometime in October

  • British Soccer Camp

    Challenger Sports, providers of the USA’s most popular soccer camp program will be hosting their British Soccer Camp with Currituck County Parks and Recreation again next summer.

    If  you are looking for a week of pure soccer, learning new skills with an international staff be sure sign up next summer for the camp.

    The weeklong summer camps will contain Challenger’s own brand of:

    • innovative practices
    • small sided games,
    • camp world cup
    • cultural education
    • character building
    • and most of all a lot of summer fun!

    The camp is:

    • Open for children 3 – 18 years of age
    • Individual Skills Evaluation
    • New 1,000 touches Camp Curriculum
    • Free online camp t-shirt, soccer poster, soccer ball and certificate
    • Daily World Cup Tournament
    • International Staff
    Challenger Soccer Video Tips:

    Challenger will be sending out video tips every 3 weeks to help campers practice some of the drills and moves prior to camp. This video tip highlights Individual Footwork: Drag and Push “U”.  Be sure to check all of Challenger Sports videos before camp begins.

  • Spring & Fall Soccer
    Fall Soccer
    • Open to boys and girls who have reached 5 years of age prior to September 1 and who have not reached the age of 16 prior to September 1
    • League play begins August and ends in October
    • Registration will begin sometime in June
    Spring Soccer
    • Open to boys and girls who have reached 5 years of age prior to September 1 and who have not reached the age of 13 prior to September 1 of the current year.
    • Players on school soccer teams are eligible to participate
    • League play begins in March and ends in April
    • Registration will begin sometime in January

  • Flag Football & Cheerleading
    • Open to children ages 5 – 12 (must have turned 5 years old before August 1 and must not have turned 13 years old before August 1).
    • League play begins in November and ends in December.
    • Registration will begin sometime in September.

  • Summer Tennis

    Junior Tennis is a joint activity sponsored by Currituck County Parks & Recreation & Currituck Tennis

    • Open to children and teenagers of all abilities. Students must have completed kindergarten to be eligible.
    • One (1) week long camp and Seven (7) week series of clinics and play-days culminating in the Eva Lane Memorial Tournament
    • Consist of Tennis Clinics and Play-days
    • Classes held Monday – Thursday at various times
    • Held at Moyock Middle School, Currituck County High School and Carolina Club,
    • Runs from early June – July
    • Registration will begin sometime in May

  • T-Ball, Baseball & Softball
    T-Ball
    • Open to boys and girls ages  5 & 6
    • Five-year-olds must bring a birth certificate to sign up
    • League play begins in early May and ends in June
    • Registration will begin sometime in February
    Rookie League
    • Open to boys and girls ages 7 & 8 (Boys and girls will be separated)
    • A spring loaded pitching machine is used to pitch to the players
    • League play begins in early May and ends in June
    • Registration will begin sometime in February
    Baseball
    • Open to boys; age 7-16
    • League play begins in early May and ends in June
    • Registration will begin sometime in February
    Girl’s Fast-Pitch Softball
    • Open to girls; ages 7-16
    • League play begins in early May and ends in June
    • Registration will begin sometime in February

  • Tackle Football
    • Programs are divided into the following categories:
      1. Ages 7-8, 120 pounds maximum weight;
      2. Ages 9-10, 160 pounds maximum weight;
      3. Ages 11-12, 185 pounds maximum weight
    • Participants must have turned 7 years old before August 1 of the current year and must not have turned 13 years old before August 1 of the current year.
    • Players on school football teams are ineligible to participate
    • League play begins August and ends in November
    • Registration will begin sometime in June

  • Spring & Fall Girls Volleyball
    Spring Volleyball
    • open to girls who have reached 8 years of age prior to September 1 of the current year  and who have not reached the age of 18 prior to September 1 of the current year
    • League play begins in March and ends in April
    • Registration will begin sometime in January
    Fall Volleyball
    • open to girls who have reached 8 years of age prior to September 1 of the current year, and who have not reached the age of 14 prior to September 1 of the current year
    • League play begins in August and ends in October
    • Registration will begin sometime in June
