2022 Primary Election Information

Primary Election – Tuesday, May 17, 2022

Candidate filing begins at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 24, 2022 and ends at noon on Friday, March 4, 2022.  However, the Supreme Court could modify the filing dates if it determined that doing so was necessary.

The Supreme Court also pushed the date of the Primary Election to Tuesday, May 17, 2022.

Currituck County citizens who wish to run for elected office in 2022 must register at the Board of Elections. There will be several local offices up for election on the 2022 ballot.

In addition to the Currituck County races, there will also be elections of local interest for the United States Senate and House of Representatives, North Carolina General Assembly, North Carolina Supreme Court, and the Court of Appeals.

2021 Redistricting 

Based upon the 2020 census data, the NC Senate, NC House and US House districts have been redrawn. Currituck County is now in District 1 across all jurisdictions.
