Celebrate Black History Month in Currituck County by visiting the Historic Jarvisburg Colored School. This restored facility and museum is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and features a classroom that often combined several grades of children.
Also included is historical information about the African American schools in Currituck County prior to de-segregation, beginning in 1868 through the 1950’s.
The Historic Jarvisburg Colored School Museum is open to visitors Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Admission and parking to the museum is free.
