A MESSAGE FROM YOUR SENIOR SERVICE STAFF

Dear Senior,

We miss you!  We hope that you and your family have been well!  Please view this November’s virtual calendar. As things continue to stretch on…we hope the calendar provides a smile!

The staff have remained busy during this time.  For the safety of our home delivered clients and volunteers; staff have been doing all meal deliveries each week since April.  At the moment we have over 60 clients with that number steadily growing due to the COVID pandemic.  In addition; staff have been doing weekly phone checks with Home Deliver clients and regular attendees of the centers.  Staff have tackled painting walls of senior buildings, scrubbing floors, answering calls, on-line training’s, cleaning vehicles and providing support to seniors in need…just to name a few!

The Senior Centers will remain closed until the governor announces Phase 3.  Opening restrictions and safety measures will be based off of what the governor mandates, local county and staff recommendations.

What will that look like? We do not know yetinformation on what changes have been made, programming availability, capacity, etc. will be made available to the public once we have an opening date set in stone.  We would love nothing more than to pick up where we left off; however these changes will help ensure the health and safety of our seniors, volunteers and staff.

We also want to say “Thank you!”  We greatly appreciate all the support we have received from our community, seniors and fellow staff.  The phone calls, cards and emails to say “Hi”, let us know you miss us too!

We look forward to seeing you,

Stacy

The Currituck County Senior Centers; Barco, Knotts Island and Powell’s Point are places designed to give Senior Adults in Currituck the opportunity to meet other seniors, receive services geared towards seniors and participate in activities that will affirm their dignity and self-worth.

With that in mind each month the staff produces a newsletter to inform citizens of available programs for that month. Please take the time to read what the Senior Centers are doing this month.

When we all work together the senior centers are an “enjoyable and a happy place” for EVERYONE!
