Currituck County, North Carolina
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN PURSUANT TO N.C.G.S § 163A-769 by the Board of Elections of Currituck County, North Carolina, that:
A Congressional General Election will be held on Tuesday, September 10, 2019, the date being established by law, to vote on Congressional candidates for US House of Representatives District 3. The polls will be open on Election Day from 6:30 a.m. until 7:30 p.m.
Voters voting in person are entitled to assistance by an election official or a near relative, or, if assistance is needed due to disability or illiteracy, by a qualified person of their choice. All voting sites are accessible to all voters. Curbside voting is available for voters who are not able to enter voting sites.
REGISTRATION: All voters in Currituck County who are registered to vote are eligible to vote in the General Election and need not re-register. Those residents of Currituck County who are not registered to vote must register by August 16th at 5:00 p.m. in order to be eligible to vote in this election. Voters who fail to timely make a change in name or address in the county must update the information when presenting to vote, and may be required to vote a provisional ballot.
BY-MAIL NO-EXCUSE ABSENTEE VOTING: Registered voters may vote by mail. Absentee voting by mail begins July 26, 2019. The deadline for requesting an absentee ballot by mail is by 5:00 p.m. on September 3, 2019. Requests for an absentee ballot must be made using the State Absentee Ballot Request Form. Forms are available online on the North Carolina State Board of Elections website and in the Currituck County Board of Elections office.
ONE-STOP NO-EXCUSE ABSENTEE VOTING: Registered voters may vote in person at the Board of Elections office at 2811 Caratoke Highway, Currituck, during the one-stop voting period which begins Wednesday, August 21, 2019 and ends Friday, September 6, 2019. One-Stop voting hours are as follows: August 21 – September 4- Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., Saturday August 31- 8:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m., September 5 and 6- 8:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. The Board of Elections office will be closed September 2, 2019 in observance of Labor Day.
BOARD OF ELECTIONS MEETINGS: The Currituck County Board of Elections will meet at the Board of Elections office at 2811 Caratoke Highway, Currituck, on the following dates to review Absentee Ballots for the 2019 General Election pursuant to N.C.G.S. § 163A-1308: August 20, August 27 and September 3 at 9:00 a.m., September 9 at 5:00 p.m. and September 16 at 10:00 a.m. Canvass of the election will be held in the Currituck County Board of Elections office at 2811 Caratoke Highway, Currituck, NC on Monday, September 16 at 11:00 a.m.
