Operation Santa Claus now accepting donations, applications for assistance

The Currituck Department of Social Services is currently accepting applications and donations for the 2018 Operation Santa Claus.  This annual program helps provide gifts for local foster children, elderly or disabled adults, and families with children who may need a little extra assistance during the holidays.

Applications for assistance will be accepted until Friday, December 7, 2018.  Absolutely NO late applications will be accepted. If you currently receive benefits from Currituck DSS, no verification will be required with your application.  If you do not currently receive benefits, call Social Services at 252-232-3083 for details on what information you will have to provide.

Donations to Operation Santa Claus may be made in the following ways:

  • Donate money or gift cards which will be used to purchase Christmas gifts for foster children and disabled adult wards.
  • Donate food or money for the Food Baskets for the Elderly program.
  • Sponsor a family with children in Currituck County by providing gifts to a specific family. Contact Dawn Smith at 252-267-1140 or email dawnsmith252@gmail.com.  She will also accept donations of new toys.

Checks should be made payable to “Currituck County” and mailed to:

Donations may also be made at the Social Services office during business hours, Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.  Please contact DSS at 252-232-3083 if you have any questions.
