OBX is Open; Beach Parking Permits Available

Currituck County, Dare County, and Hyde County lifted restrictions on entry for visitors on Saturday, May 16. Entry for visitors into Currituck County includes Corolla and the 4WD beaches, as well as campgrounds on the Currituck County mainland.

Before traveling to the Outer Banks, visitors are encouraged to contact their accommodations provider to confirm their reservation and arrival plans. As visitors prepare for vacation, it is important to remember that the coronavirus is not over and certain state restrictions remain in effect to protect everyone’s safety.

  • Beaches are open for normal activity.
  • Social distancing guidelines are still in effect, including on the beach.
2020 Beach Parking Permits are required for vehicles parking on the 4WD beach in Corolla from May 22 to Labor Day.

Permits are available for pick-up at the Moyock Welcome Center or the Corolla Visitors Center.

No permit application or beach parking regulations certificate will be required this year. County residents and property owners may receive their free permits with a valid ID and proof of residency or property ownership, such as a tax record or utility bill. Visitors must have a valid ID and license plate # to purchase a permit.

If you have questions, call either the Moyock (252-435-2947) or Corolla (252-453-9612) location.
