The libraries are currently not open, however, Curbside Service is available at all Currituck County Public Libraries, Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

  • Winter Storytime for Toddlers and Preschoolers

    Every week from Monday, January 4 to Friday, May 14, 2021 stop by the Barco Library to pick up a Preschool or Toddler Storytime Packet  Preschool packets are for children aged 3 – 5 years and Toddler packets are for children aged 18 months – 3 years. Each packet includes early literacy activities that you can complete at home!

  • “If You Were a Bunny” Easter Activity Packets

    What would you be doing if you were a bunny? Learn all about life as a rabbit and do a bunny craft! Suitable for all ages with grownup assistance. Available Monday, March 22 – Friday, April 2, 2021.

  • New Normal, New Skills

    Life has changed a lot. We’ve all had to give some things up, but there are new opportunities too. What new skills have you learned during quarantine? Have you discovered new talents in the kitchen, mastered a new craft, revisited an old hobby or honed job skills? Submit your answers to llivingston@earlibrary.org

  • Your library has books and programs available on just about anything you want to know. Check out a book on a topic of interest and send us photos of the new things you’re learning!

    During the months of January to May, stop by the Moyock Library to pick up a Homeschool Packet and accompanying STEAM activities that you can complete at home!

      Discover the science behind animation before creating your own zoetrope and flipbook.
    • February
      Put your engineering skills to the test by designing a moon habitat and creating a Mars helicopter.
    • March
      Study the history of tessellations and M.C. Escher before making several tessellations.
  • Valentine’s Day Program

    Participate in this year’s Valentine’s Day program by picking up a packet throughout the month of February! Create a mosaic, a picture frame, and learn about chromatography to celebrate Valentine’s Day.

  • St. Patrick’s  Day Program

    Participate in this year’s St. Patrick’s Day program by picking up a packet throughout the month of March! Learn neat facts about St. Patrick’s Day as you conduct a rainbow science experiment, paint sun catchers, and create a flying shamrock.

  • Moyock Genealogy Clinic

    Remember to pick up our Genealogy “Kid’s Kit”!  The kit includes:

    • a family history booklet
    • family tree charts
    • family member interview questions
    • a family tradition works>heet
    • and more.

    It’s a great way to encourage children to become their very own future family historians.  Bring your completed bingo card back to the library and receive a special surprise!

    For adults, we have an “Introduction to Beginning Genealogy” packet.  Intended for adults who are absolute beginners, this step-by-step guide will get you well on your way to becoming a great genealogist.  The packet includes:

    • practice exercises
    • forms
    • charts to complete.

    And be on the lookout for our “Introduction to Genealogy” course which will be available for checkout, coming soon on DVD/MP4/WMV!

  • In Honor of Black History Month in February

    Currituck County Library is pleased to announce the creation of our “African American and Black Heritage Collection.”  Designed to assist historians and genealogists researching the Black community in Currituck County, the collection has several databases, including:

    • Currituck County Emigrants to Liberia
    • Currituck County Men Who Served in the United States Colored Troops and US Navy,
    • Free People of Color in the 1850-1860 US Census in Currituck County,
    • Dr. Benjamin Bowser’s Census Databases,
    • Index of Enslaved Named in the Currituck County Library Vertical File and other vital statistics databases.

    Our “Guide to African American Genealogy & Black Heritage” and collection description pamphlet are available for pickup upon request at the Barco and Moyock Libraries.
