There’s nothing better than being able to walk outside your house, step into your garden, and pick fresh vegetables for a snack or meal. Unfortunately, there’s nothing worse than stepping into that garden to find it being eaten by insects, or overrun by weeds. Join us at the N.C. Cooperative Extension Currituck County Center on Thursday, June 10, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. – Noon for our Vegetable Gardening Update where we’ll help you prevent your hard work from going to waste.
In this 2 hour class, we’ll cover how to identify and control some of the common insects that plague our gardens here in Northeast North Carolina. After that, we’ll step outside to our demonstration garden where we’ll go over strategies to reduce diseases. We’ll finish class by covering mid-season fertilization and nutrient deficiencies, the precipice of insect and disease outbreaks.
The class will be offered in-person, streamed live online, and a recording will be posted as well. In-person tickets are limited so reserve your seat now! To register, visit https://vegetablegardeningupdate.eventbrite.com and complete the form. Registration will give you access to the Zoom link for the live stream, as well as the recording and other related videos and articles.
Currently, in-person events require masks to be worn for the duration of the event without exception. If you arrive without a mask one will be provided for you. We ask all participants to maintain 6 feet of distance while on the premises. We are following the current North Carolina mandates. If you are not able to meet these requirements, or if you need accommodations for persons with disabilities please contact Adam Formella at 252-232-2261 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org no later than 10 business days prior to class.
