Whalehead in Historic Corolla
It is with great sadness that Currituck County Tourism announces the cancellation of this year’s Under the Oaks Art Festival.
We know that this is disappointing, not only to the exhibitors who come to sell their art every year, but also to the many visitors and community members that attend to find one of a kind pieces to showcase in their homes or to give as gifts to loved ones.
Our primary concern is always to provide a safe and accessible event for everyone involved. With the current social climate and with our artists finding it difficult to travel and attend, we did not feel that we could present the grand arts festival that you have come to know and love; and thus, risk damaging the reputation of this longstanding event.
Thank you for your support and understanding. We will be back in 2021 with an unforgettable festival that you won’t want to miss.
Date: Tuesday, September 22 & Wednesday, September 23, 2020
Under the Oaks Art Festival is a 2 day outdoor fine art & curated craft show with a variety of artists on the sweeping waterfront grounds of Historic Corolla Park at Whalehead. 100 year old Live Oaks, open green lawns and casual breezes from the Currituck Sound make for a perfect location.
This festival features the unique talents of over 50 quality artists with a wide variety of media local food concessions, and a silent art auction that benefits Whalehead.
Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Whalehead was the 1920s residence of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Collings Knight, Jr., a 21,000-square-foot “mansion by the sea”.
Watch for some of the exciting new additions coming to the festival this year.
