Greenhouse Workshop!

If one of your New Year’s resolutions is to be more active, we have just what you need! Let us help you meet your new year’s goal by joining our New Year’s Fitness Challenge.

The challenge begins on Monday, January 10 and lasts until Saturday, February 20, 2022. Each week participants will receive motivational emails with tips on how to meet their goals along with weekly muscle strengthening exercises. We will also have a live-streamed yoga class or some other type of fitness class on Wednesdays at noon. These classes will last 20 minutes and will be recorded.

We are offering weekly prizes including a grand prize of a yoga mat, for those local participants who report their weekly physical activity.

Greenhouse Workshop!

Have you wanted your own greenhouse, but you do not know where to begin? Do you currently have a greenhouse and simply want to brush up on your skills? Maybe you simply want to cut costs at the grocery store by raising your own vegetables all season long. Whatever the case, our Greenhouse Workshop is for you!

Join the class at N.C. Cooperative Extension, Currituck County Center on Wednesday, January 12, 2022, from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. and learn the basics of greenhouse management.

This course will cover:

  • various containers used in greenhouse production,
  • media choices,
  • basic fertilization,
  • pest control,
  • ventilation,
  • record keeping,
  • and includes an on-site tour of a working greenhouse.

Is one of your New Year’s goals to eat healthier or eat out less?

Ensure you and your family have a nutritious meal for dinner by planning ahead. Join us on  Thursday, January 20, 2022 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. as we learn the valuable skills of batch cooking, freezing, and preparing meals ahead. We will also explore menu planning to help ease the stress of making dinner on those busy weeknights.

This in-person class has a $15.00 fee and will leave you with some goodies!

We are accepting cash and check payments in addition to paying via credit card through Eventbrite. Please, make checks payable to NCSU.
