It is estimated that 1 in 5 U.S. workers has experienced bullying in the past year. The overwhelming majority of employees bullied at work leave their jobs without taking action. Having a respectful workplace is everyone’s right.

This seminar will empower employees, so they are not a victim of bullying. It will show how to protect yourself and coworkers from being bullied. It will enable employees to identify and respond to workplace intimidation and learn how to spot bullying behaviors.

Learn the strategies for responding to bullying, protecting yourself from bullying, what steps to take if bullying does not stop, the emotional impact of bullying, and what resources are available.

Are you tired of cooking the same meals? Do you need ideas to spice up your cuisine? Maybe you just need help finding quality herbs? If any of these questions apply to you, or if you’re interested in learning more cooking or gardening techniques, then N.C. Cooperative Currituck County Center has the class for you!

Starting on Monday, August 9, 2021, we will be offering an online, on-demand gardening and cooking with herbs class. We’ll have videos and research-based resources to help you start your own herb garden, and then learn to cook with it. We’ll cover herbs 101, how to make a mason jar herb garden, and then learn how to utilize herbs in drinks, desserts, and salads.

    Cook Smart Eat Smart Cooking School

    Do you want to learn to cook delicious, simple, and healthy meals? Then sign up for our Cook Smart Eat Smart Cooking School, today! North Carolina Cooperative Extension’s Cook Smart Eat Smart Cooking School will take place on Wednesdays  beginning September 1, 2021 and running through September 29, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

    In each of the 4 sessions, we will cover one aspect of cooking as well as a cooking technique. The price of the full cooking school is $40.00 and includes a cookbook as well as tastings of any of the delicious food you prepare.

    We are accepting cash and check payments in addition to paying via credit card through Eventbrite. Please, make checks payable to NC State University. Checks and cash payments can be received at the Currituck County Office, 120 Community Way Barco NC 27917, within 5 days of registration.     Currently, masks are not required for in person classes, but are encouraged for unvaccinated individuals. Please be aware this could change in light of changing state or local Covid-19 mandates.     As we begin to work back towards our normal fall routines of school and work, let us not forget the importance of putting ourselves first. It is so much harder to give to everyone else when we have not taken the time to care for ourselves. Luckily, North Carolina Cooperative Extension has the tools to help you make yourself a priority again. Join us for this FREE virtual challenge where we will cover all of the things that keep us healthy and happy. And the best news is we can do it together!

    Take Care of Yourself with rain drops in the backup and gold umbrella protecting the words.This 5-week challenge will focus on 5 topics:

    • making time for yourself,
    • exercising,
    • sleeping,
    • gratitude,
    • and a healthy diet.

    During this challenge, you will have 6 tasks to do every day. Each week you will receive an email containing a video expanding upon these tasks, a digital/printable log, and other useful resources to make taking care of yourself easy! Taking care of our bodies is the best insurance we have from getting sick.

    And if that is not enough to inspire you to join we are giving stuff away each week. Also, did we mention it is free?
