Updated Monday, May 18, 2020:
  • Youth Spring Soccer – cancelled
  • Youth Spring Volleyball – cancelled
  • Youth T-Ball, Baseball & Softball has  been cancelled.  By Friday, May 29, 2020 anyone registered will receive a household credit. If you would prefer a refund check please notify the department as soon as possible.
  • While our parks remain open at this time, all of our restroom facilities have been locked up to help prevent contamination.
  • All Travel Sports Tournaments have been cancelled.  We will re-evaluate opening when North Carolina Governor proceeds with moving the state to Phase 2.
  • We will continue to monitor and re-access the situation and adjust closures as needed.

The Parks and Recreation Department’s mission is to provide quality leisure services through safe and attractive facilities. It is the department’s goal to offer diversified passive and active recreational programs that meet the current and future needs of Currituck County.

The Parks and Recreation Department is responsible for planning and implementing youth and adult sports and activities, as well as providing and maintaining athletic facilities and public parks.

Responsibilities of the Parks & Recreation Department
  • Offers youth athletic programs. These include:
    • Flag Football
    • Tackle Football
    • Basketball
    • Soccer
    • Girls Volleyball
    • Cheerleading,
    • T-Ball
    • Baseball
    • Softball
  • Offers athletic programs for adults. These include:
    • adult league softball (men and women)
    • basketball league
  • Operates the County’s public parks.
  • Maintains public walking, hiking, horseback trail.
