For the safety of our citizens and staff the following was approved by the Currituck County Board of Commissioners on Monday, March 16th…

Effective Tuesday, March 17, 2020:
  • Youth Spring Soccer – cancelled
  • Youth Spring Volleyball – cancelled
  • At this time T-Ball, Baseball & Softball has NOT been cancelled, but the season will be postponed.  The final decision on this program will be re-evaluated in mid-April.
  • While our parks remain open at this time, all of our restroom facilities have been locked up to help prevent contamination.
  •  All Travel Sports Tournaments scheduled in the next 30 days have been cancelled.  We will re-evaluate on Wednesday April 15, 2020.

We will continue to monitor and re-access the situation and adjust closures as needed.

The Parks and Recreation Department’s mission is to provide quality leisure services through safe and attractive facilities. It is the department’s goal to offer diversified passive and active recreational programs that meet the current and future needs of Currituck County.

The Parks and Recreation Department is responsible for planning and implementing youth and adult sports and activities, as well as providing and maintaining athletic facilities and public parks.

Responsibilities of the Parks & Recreation Department
  • Offers youth athletic programs. These include:
    • Flag Football
    • Tackle Football
    • Basketball
    • Soccer
    • Girls Volleyball
    • Cheerleading,
    • T-Ball
    • Baseball
    • Softball
  • Offers athletic programs for adults. These include:
    • adult league softball (men and women)
    • basketball league
  • Operates the County’s public parks.
  • Maintains public walking, hiking, horseback trail.
