Currituck Senior's ExercisingThe Currituck County Senior Centers; Barco, Knotts Island and Powell's Point are places designed to give Senior Adults in Currituck the opportunity to meet other seniors, receive services geared towards seniors and participate in activities that will affirm their dignity and self-worth.

With that in mind each month the staff produces a newsletter to inform citizens of available programs for that month. Please take the time to read what the Senior Centers are doing this month.

Tammy's "Did You Know"...

The heat can be very dangerous for anyone but especially for seniors! Here are some tips to stay cool:

Drink plenty of WATER! Avoid caffeine when possible. Do not wait until you feel thirsty but drink throughout the day.

Place a cool wash cloth on the back of your neck. Always have a pan of cool water beside you so you can dip your wash cloth.

Visit your Senior Center, Library, YMCA or some other public place and enjoy the cool temperatures provided.

The biggest tip we would like to share, is please stay out of the heat unless you have to be in it.

Gardening, Yard work, and other outdoor activities can bring on Heat Exhaustion or even Heat Stroke fast and should be avoided until cooler weather sets in.
