Event Rules & Regulations
Currituck County Rural Center User Agreement and Event Rules and Regulations
- A 1-day show/event receives no free move-in or move-out days.
A 2-day show/event receives 1 full move-in day and ½ move-out day free.
A 3-day show/event receives 2 full move-in days and 1 full move-out day free.
- Facility hours are as follows:
Paid show/event days
7:00am - 12:00 midnight *
Move-in days (free or purchased)
7:00am - 10:00pm
Full Day move-out days (free)
7:00am - 5:00pm
Full Day move-out days (purchased)
7:00am - 10:00pm **
½ Day move-out days (free)
7:00am - 12:00 noon
- * A $50.00 per hour charge will be assessed if facility staff is kept past 12:00 midnight on show/event days. (Charged at minimum 30- minute intervals)
** A $50.00 per hour charge will be assess if facility staff is kept past 10:00pm on move-in or move-out days. (Charged at minimum 30- minuite intervals)
- Additional move-in days and move-out days may be purchased for $50.00 based upon availability.
- The rental fee for said facilities includes preparation, cleaning and maintenance of all rooms, areas, offices, restrooms, etc. Additional set- up of rooms may be handled for the User's requirements, but needs to be outlined ahead of time. Example: enclosing announcer's booth for use as a dressing room.
- The County will provide you with an audit of services and equipment utilized, including a Stall and RV audit, which must be signed at the conclusion of your event. All stalls and RV sites used will be charged.
- All fees will be rounded to the nearest half-hour.
- County will provide the events Manager with a pre-event sheet. The events Manager should fill out this sheet and return to us, so that we may set-up the facility for your events best interest upon your arrival including: arena preparations, depth, water content, etc. as well as, other amenities requires: such as, livestock panels, jumps, tables, chairs, bleachers, etc. See fee schedule for cost of such amenities. Events Manager should supply facility with an outline of what facility staff will be needed for setting-up or tearing down. Example: forklift, etc. See fee schedule.
- Show management/secretary's office at the Currituck County Rural Center phone number is _____________________________ for receiving calls.
- Glass containers, alcoholic beverages, illegal substances, and firearms, are not allowed on the grounds. Smoking is prohibited in buildings located on the property.
- No fireworks inside any buildings. The management must approve fireworks outside.
- Arena equipment for preparing the footing will be supplied by the facility.
- Horses should stay within designated areas and facility riding areas. Horses are not allowed in landscaped grass area or near graveyard.
- Washing and bathing of horses is to be done in designated wash rack.
- Barn aisles and doorways must remain clear and passable at all times. Stall guards on each stall door must be closed and latched when unattended.
- All dogs on the grounds must be on leash and controlled at all times. Vaccination records must be made available upon request. Owners shall be responsible for waste cleanup and disposal in receptacles provided.
- SAFETY:
Show management will take all precautions and reasonable steps necessary to ensure the safety of the public, exhibitors and animals
a. Proper riding apparel - including protective headgear and foot wear, 18 and under must wear ATSM approved helmet when riding.
b. No lunging of horses in areas that have riding or driving horses working.
- WASTE:
a. No glass containers, bottles, etc., on the grounds. No alcoholic beverages.
b. Manure will be placed in designated areas. No cleaning of trailers in the parking lots. (Excessive manure in other areas may result in a cleaning charge)
c. Medical Waste - must use receptacles in each barn.
d. Owners shall be responsible for pet waste cleanup and disposal in receptacles provided.
- All horses must have a current negative E.I.A. (Coggins) test.
- If you desire to have uniformed law enforcement officers on duty for your event. Security may be arranged by calling Susan Johnson, Sheriff, Currituck County Sheriff's Department 252-2453-8204. The hourly rate is determined by the Sherriff's Department.
- If you desire to have uniformed EMT personnel on duty for your event. EMT's may be arranged by calling Teresa Wheeler, Captain, Currituck County EMS, 252-232-7746. The hourly rate is determined by the Currituck EMS Department.
