Albemarle Regional Hazard Mitigation Plan Meeting Announcement

» 

Camden, Chowan, Currituck, Dare, Gates, Hertford, Pasquotank and Perquimans counties, along with participating local jurisdictions and other participating partners, are now working to prepare a Regional Hazard Mitigation Plan. The purpose of this Plan, titled the Albemarle Regional Hazard Mitigation Plan, is to identify and assess our community's natural hazard risks and determine how to best minimize or manage those risks.

Public participation is a valuable component of the planning process and therefore a second public meeting will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2015 at the:

The meeting will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Anyone interested in learning more about the Albemarle Regional Hazard Mitigation Plan and helping us make the region less vulnerable to natural disasters is encouraged to attend.

The Ocean Sands Water and Sewer Advisory Board and CH2MHill, will hold a conference call on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at 10:30 a.m.

The Ocean Sands Water and Sewer Advisory Board will meet on Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. in the Corolla Library, located at 1123 Ocean Trail, Corolla.

The purpose of this meeting is to discuss the following:

  • Discussion on the Hydrogeological Study portion of the Environmental Assessment for WWTP expansion
  • Direction to CH2MHill regarding moving forward with the Environmental Assessment
  • Direction to Anlauf Engineering regarding moving forward with Phase I of the WWTP replacement project

The Ocean Sands Water and Sewer Advisory Board, along with the Ocean Sands POA (Property Owners Association) board, several County Staff and others whom volunteered to assist with the storm water issue for Ocean Sands, will meet on Friday, June 27, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. in the Corolla Librbary located at 1123 Ocean Trail, Corolla.

The purpose of this meeting is to discuss the impacts of storm water on the waste water plant, as progress moves forward with the waste water plant replacement.

Currituck County ABC Board Budget Hearing

As required by NC G.S. 18B-702, a balanced budget has been prepared and presented to the Currituck County ABC Board, the Currituck County Board of Commissioners and the NC ABC Commission. 

A copy of this budget is available for review in the ABC Board office, located at 6420 Caratoke Hw., Grandy, NC 27939, Monday through Friday, 9:00a.m. to 5:00 pm.

A Public Hearing pertaining to this budget will be held on Thursday, June 19, 2014 at 9:30 a.m., at the Currituck County ABC Board Office, 6420 Caratoke Hwy, Grandy, NC 27939.

Budget Message for Currituck County ABC Board FY 2014-2015   

A budget consisting of projected revenues from sales, balanced against projected taxes based on those revenues, operating expenses and distributions has been prepared as required by NC GS 18-702.

Projected sales revenues are budgeted at 3 ½% over last years sales.

Budget reflects salaries/wages for the following employees:

  1. 7 Full-time permanent/salaried 2-Moyock 4-Grandy 1-Corolla
  2. 2 Part-time hourly 1-Moyock 1-Grandy
  3. 4 Full-time seasonal/hourly Corolla store.

Significant changes expected in the Board's operation over the next fiscal year consist of:

  1. Increased sales due to the Warehouse addition and Mixed Beverage space expansion at Corolla store
  2. ABC Board continuation of retaining distributions of profits to build back the working capital
  3. Expected cost of salaries and benefits to increase due to the addition of one retiree and one full-time employee as well as the increase in group insurance coverage

The Ocean Sands Water and Sewer Advisory Board (OSWSD) will meet on Monday, June 2, 2014 at 9:30 a.m. in the Corolla Light Sports Center (upstairs meeting room) located at 1026 Ocean Trail, Corolla.

This is a meeting with CH2MHILL to update the Board with the progress of the Environmental Assessment of the OSWSD sewer system expansion.
