Recreation Advisory Board will meet at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 13 in the Historic Courthouse Conference Room.
Planning Board will meet on Tuesday, October 13 at 7:00 p.m. in the Historic Courthouse.

Currituck County Board of Commissioners will meet on Monday October 19, 2015·at 5:00 p.m. in the Historic Courthouse.

On burned-home.pngSunday, October 4, 2015, an early evening fire in Moyock destroyed a home. Although the family of five (5) got out of the house safely, they lost almost everything.

As in the past Samaritan's Corner was activated to help assist and provide a central location to list the necessary items needed to help this family get reestablished.

The state of South Carolina has established a website  for the public to make donations or volunteer to help following historic, severe flooding throughout the state.

Post Storm - What You Need to Know

Has your property been damaged or flooded by the recent storm, if so you need to check out this important information? What you don't know could cost you.

Do you participate in the National Flood Insurance Program under FEMA and have flood damage to your home or property? If the answer is yes, you need to contact the Currituck Count Inspections before beginning repairs at 252-232-3378 on the mainland and 252-453-8555 in Corolla.
									Damage Stairs

If your property damage is to beach access stairs and walkways you might need a  building permit.

A building permit will be required for beach access stairs and walkways when there has been structural damage. Structural damaged shall be considered to be one of the following:

»Replacement or splicing of pilings that support these structures
»Replacement or addition of handrails and guards
»Replacement or addition of stair stringers
• Replacement or addition of floor joist

Minor maintenance of these structures including repairing/replacement of stair tread boards, deck boards & pickets installed to the original condition. Minor damage structures do not require a building permit.

Public Access stairs and walkways that have significant structural damage and that are not considered minor repair by a building inspector may require engineering.
