Mission Statement

The Parks and Recreation Department’s mission is to provide quality leisure services through safe and attractive facilities. It is the department’s goal to offer diversified passive and active recreational programs that meet the current and future needs of Currituck County.

The Parks and Recreation Department is responsible for planning and implementing youth and adult sports and activities, as well as providing and maintaining athletic facilities and public parks.

What This Department Does

Offers youth athletic programs. These include: Flag Football, Tackle Football, Basketball, Soccer, Girls Volleyball, Wrestling, Cheerleading,
Baseball and Softball.
Offers athletic programs for adults. These include: adult league softball (men and women) and a basketball league.
Operates the County’s public parks.
Maintains public walking/hiking/horseback trail.
Operates Currituck County Special Olympics

What This Department Does Not Do

Issue ATV permits for the North Beach
Conduct hang gliding classes at the Currituck Airport
Take reservations for school facilities from citizens
